AAA Learning & Participation co-presents a roundtable discussion for Irish educators with 2016 AAA Educator-in-Residence Patsey Bodkin.

Irish educators are invited to explore AAA’s collection of recent art in Asia as a resource for teachers and students, with a view towards the contemporary educational need for global understanding and citizenship.

The roundtable is an extension of Bodkin’s AAA residency, where she explored how AAA supports the continued professional development (CPD) of art educators in Hong Kong and Ireland, in the process generating a pilot CPD module from AAA’s online collection for Irish art teachers.

The roundtable is a closed-door session by invitation only. Interested art education organisations or practitioners, please contact Susanna Chung via by Sat, 6 May 2017. AAA also welcomes proposals to collaborate and expand its reach and impact to educators around the world.

Patsey Bodkin is Lecturer in Art Education, School of Education, National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin. Prior to joining NCAD in 2007, Bodkin worked as a secondary school art teacher for 20 years. She developed a national CPD programme for art teachers and a CPD programme in visual art for Dublin's primary teachers. She is currently Chairperson of the CPD working group for the Institute of Teacher Education, Dublin.

Art Education Network was initiated by AAA in 2013 for sharing art education experiences, insights, and challenges to collectively expand understanding of contemporary art development in Asia. The network provides opportunities to rethink and re-evaluate the value of art education, and to create a supportive regional network of art organisations for future collaboration.
