Context
The Dashanzi International Art Festival (DIAF) was first held in Beijing's Dashanzi 789 art district in 2004, inviting artists from different nationalities and backgrounds. It aimed to provide a platform for dialogues about contemporary art and culture by staging a wide range of events surrounding visual art, music, dance, theatre, performance art, multimedia art, design, architecture, and films. Its last festival was held in 2007.
