We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual to serve as Head of Development, a core member of the AAA team. The Head of Development plays a key role in the creation and implementation of a fundraising strategy that secures donations from the government, foundations, individuals, and corporations. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, and to work closely with many different people and organisations within the art community. As AAA celebrates 20 years, the Head of Development embodies the organisation’s values and spirit of generosity—with an emphasis on community at the heart of AAA’s DNA.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create an annual development plan with the Executive Director and Head of Finance & Administration to raise revenues to support the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Participate in Management and Board-level discussions around funding strategies
  • Cultivate strong and trustworthy relationships with patrons and potential patrons
  • Identify and deliver sponsorship opportunities; write and present sponsorship proposals; track and meet grant submissions and reporting deadlines
  • Research and draft applications and reports to trusts, foundations, and the government
  • Manage annual fundraising auction and dinner
  • Oversee and develop patron programmes, including an annual overseas trip
  • Actively integrate cross-team planning and collaboration; implement organisational priorities
  • Lead and support the Development team and ensure fundraising administration system runs efficiently
  • Professionally represent AAA in relevant public events; be a voice and champion for AAA’s mission

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or arts-related field
  • At least 3-5 years experience in fundraising or art administration; familiarity with Hong Kong and the wider Asian art scene is important
  • Experience in managing fundraising events
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with a diversity of different people
  • Detail-orientated and able to meet deadlines and deliver reports on time; good time management
  • Good team player and caring manager
  • Demonstrated success in securing major support from private and public sources
  • Mission-minded with an active interest in the visual arts
  • Detail-oriented and organised with strong multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Chinese language skills is an asset; other Asian languages a plus
  • Ability to lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously; prioritise, plan, coordinate, and manage own work while meeting deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
