Death in the Family

This work is from the Re-take of Amrita series.

Excerpt from Vivan Sundaram, Vivan Sundaram: Re-take of Amrita, Tulika Books, New Delhi, 2001:

'Umrao Singh, in his study in Shimla in the mid-40s, is seen pulling the string of the shutter on his camera, while Marie Antoinette fondles her cat. Amrita is dead by now, Indira is married. Their 'visit' to the Shimla home, this re-union, would have pleased the aged parents, as there was estrangement in the family by 1940.'
