Book one of a two-part catalogue for All Day/Everyday, a goup show realized in two parts held at the Westdeutsche Landesbank, Istanbul. This book documents part one of the project that took place between Feb-Aug 2001. Curated by Beral Madra, the concept of the exhibition was borne out of her initial impression of the WestLB, Istanbul Building, when she began working there as curator. Strongly affected by the strictly professional atmosphere of the building, with it's appropriately minimalist furniture and interior designs that conveyed an isolating sense of work and duty, Madra decided to investigate the "inside/outside" dichotomy between work and everyday realities. "If one of the objectives of this exhibition is to fuse this outside/inside dichotomy, the other is to survey this division. Here, artworks will serve as the mediums shifting from one side to the other, in order to signify the infinite details of human factor/existence within the man-made systems." A group of young artists from both Germany and Turkey were invited to the task of 'responding' to the WestLB, Istanbul Building. Includes biographical information on participants.
