In New Delhi, five days after the arrest of Chandra Mohan, artists and supporters gathered outside Rabindra Bhawan to show 'their solidarity against vandalism of freedom of expression.' Ram Rehman, a member of the artists' collective SAHMAT spoke out against the 'saffron brigade'. The painter Vasudha Thozhur of Vadodara said that, 'Gujarat has been taken over by fascist tendencies...' Actress Nandita Das was also present (her photo accompanies the article). Senior politicians also spoke out against the VHP/BJP attacks.
