'Bridge the Gap?' is a conference conceived by the Center for Contemporary Art, Kitakyushu, and organised by Miyake Akiko and Hans Ulrich Obrist. One of the starting points of the conference is the increasing interest in science demonstrated in the work of many contemporary artists, architects and designers, as well as by thinkers in the humanities. It is the hope of the organisers to bring an ongoing life to the conference, and to launch trans-disciplinary and trans-geographical dialogues which can evolve in time to become a regularly held summit in Kitakyushu. Participants of the confernece include artists, scientist, architects and scholars in humanities. Participating artists and architects include Marina Abramovic, Olafur Eliasson, Ken Lum, Pipilotti Rist, Anri Sala, Rirkrit Tiravanijia, Wang Jian Wei, Stefano Boeri, Chang Yungho, Cerith Wyn Evans, Joseph Grigely, Carsten Holler, Rem Koolhaas and William Lim. The present programme provides a rundown of the conference (in Japanese only), organiser's statement, speakers' statement and a section titled 'Artistic Intervention'.
