This monograph features paintings by Paris-educated Taiwanese artist Chang-Ling. Works from his Pork Belly series are divided into fives themes: Flesh Landscape, Flesh Birds and Flowers, Flesh City, Flesh Weapons and Flesh Religion. Sean Hu writes, "The themes in his work primarily center on his search for identity, cultural roots, desire, consumerism and concern for natural and urban environments...The artist starts from his own childhood and experiences studying abroad, blends forms and concepts from eastern, western, classical and contemporary art, transforms this with careful observations of his surrounding environment and then crystallizes all of this in his two-dimensional work. Chang-Ling draws the viewer into the magnificent scenery of his flesh world where desire intersects with numerous ideas in a chaotic landscape of piled bloody flesh."
