Chinese Art Today Series: Li Zhanyang

This volume focuses on the works by sculptor Li Zhanyang, whose figures, always appear in a group, reflect the social life, which is undergoing rapid changes, in contemporary China. We can see from the expressive appearances and excitement on Li's figures the restlessness of urban living, as aptly summed up by Fan Dian in the following: 'The urban existence is characterised by strong visual and auditory stimulation, a psychology based on fashion and consumption, transient and changeable human relationships, and restless anxiety'.
