This catalogue accompanies the exhibition 'Disorient' presented at the Dutch Pavilion at the 53rd International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. The exhibition features works by Fiona Tan. 'Tan drew inspiration for this work from an account of a journey written over 700 years ago. In her installation, produced specially for this Biennale, Tan reacts to this account and presents a modern-day confrontation with the era when Venice was a strategic centre of worldwide significance. 'Disorient' will also feature two other works by Tan that investigate travel, memories and origin in relation to biographies.' (by Hans HOOGERVORST, Foreword, 'Disorient: Fiona Tan')
