Wong Siu Ling was one of Hong Kong’s first generation artists who enjoyed a respectable status in the Western world. A self-taught artist, Wong demonstrated his talent in the Hong Kong Art Club’s Annual Exhibitions and had won the first prize for three years during the 1930s. He was well-known for his depictions of everyday scenes and life. The twenty paintings presented in this exhibition catalogue were bequeathed to the Hong Kong Museum of Art. This publication also includes a retrospective study of Wong’s artistic path and a chronology of his life and activities.
