Context

The Community Museum Project was founded by Howard Chan, Siu Kingchung, Tse Pakchai, and Phoebe Wong, in 2002. According to their project description, the Community Museum Project invites artists to 'experiment with the possible formats of [a] museum' in accordance to a belief that museums are a way to represent daily life and values, rather than an elitist institution. Through non-institutional exhibitions and community-centred public programmes, the project 'aims to nurture a platform to articulate personal experiences and underrepresented histories.'
