Founded in 2011 as a five-year project, Spring Workshop is a cultural initiative that experiments with the way we relate to art. With an international cross-disciplinary program of artist and curatorial residencies, exhibitions, music, film and talks, Spring has served as a laboratory for exchange between artists, organisations and audiences in Hong Kong and abroad. It ceased its usual activities in December 2017 to begin its planned season of rest and transformation. (excerpted from Spring Workshop's website)

Context

Founded in 2011 by Mimi Brown, Spring Workshop was originally a five-year cultural initiative experimenting with the way a community relates to art. Over the years Spring Workshop has organised a wide range of interdisciplinary programmes including exhibitions, talks, and events related to film and music in their Wong Chuk Hang space. They have also hosted residencies for both artists and curators. Since December 2017, Spring Workshop ceased its usual activities at Wong Chuk Hang and have completed their last project in 2018 with an inaugural exhibition at Tai Kwun Contemporary.
