It is a monograph by Kenji Yanobe which presents his works dating from 1990 to 1994. Artist biography is included.

Yanob ecreates larger-than-life, cartoon-like, mechanical sculpture. Each one embodied a different persona or emotion that came out of his own childhood experience. Somewhere between protective armor and manga characters, his sculpted objects captivate viewers with their fanciful colors and farcial, overblown scale.

Yanobe is traditional in that he carefully crafts these cheerful, mobile systems himself in the studio, usually out of recycled materials. He is skillful at designing and welding together the many metal shapes and consumer electronic parts, giving the sculptural objects unifying coats of paint. In a curious way, his works is a hybrid of contemporary concerns and folk art practices.
