To Hong Kong based installation artist Kum Chikeung, his ubiquitous use of birdcage is metaphorically a response to the dense dwelling in Hong Kong where land price is notoriously high.
This catalogue features the artist’s body of work from 1995 to 1997 when Hong Kong was at the critical moment prior to the unification with China. It includes an article on the art of Kum Chikeung by Gerard Tsang, the Chief Curator of Hong Kong Museum of Art, and a biography of the artist.
