This monograph was published by the School of Continuing Education at the Hong Kong Baptist University in 1994. The publication consists of works by pencil and watercolour artist Kong Kai Ming who was born and bred in Hong Kong.
The works consist of the artist's selected works reflecting the life and times of Hong Kong in the colonial period of the mid 20th century. Kong depicts views of various locales within Hong Kong, and there is accompanying text with each chapter of drawings. Portrayals include drawings of the Peak, Repulse Bay, Ping Chau and other landscapes around Hong Kong. The publication also discusses political and economic issues relevant to Hong Kong in the colonial, pre-1997 period, using media such as the legislative council complex and notable hotels in the area.
Includes artist biography.
