The present exhibition is the result of Navjot's year long project which involves the interaction and interfacing between the urban and tribal worlds of Mumbai and Kondagaon. Displacing herself from the urban environment of Mumbai, Navjot relocated herself in the Adivasi world of woodcarvers, Shantibai, Rajkumar, Kabiram and Ghassuram. In this endeavour Navjot was accompanied by Bhanumati, a Mumbai based art historian, whose role was to document a diversity of inputs from different postitions. The catalogue includes writings by Bhanumati on each of the participants and Navjot's artist statement.
