'Ram Kumar has been wielding the pen for almost as long as he has the brush and as this collection of short stories shows, the artist is a master with words as well. For more than five decades now, the author's principal preoccupation as a writer has been those nameless spaces between tradition and modernity, between convention and rebellion, between desire and defeat and the fragility of human relationships between father and son, man and woman, mother and child. The twelve stories, originally written in Hindi, are miniature human documents that touch suppressed chords and repressed memories more by what they leave unsaid than any descriptive passage.' (Front flap)

Reproductions of Ram Kumar's artwork can be found throughout the book.
