Reflect / Refract is a compilation of essays on art criticism relating to photography in Singapore. A range of concerns are addressed, such as the need to rethink art criticism in light of the growing pluralism that characterises contemporary digital culture, the politics of representation, visual performativity and fiction, documentation and documentary, etc. It also features visual essays that highlight current themes in photographic practice, including its role in documenting transient art forms and the emerging trend of nostalgia.
