Fang Zhaoling was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, in 1914, and from childhood onwards she passionately imersed herself in the arts of calligraphy and painting. Fang developed her individual style by blending Chinese traditional painting and modern themes. The catalogue includes an article entitled Painting: My Studies and Experience by the artist.
