This catalogue is published in conjunction with 'LIU Xiaodong. Hometown Boy,' the Chinese artist's solo exhibition organised by Eslite Gallery, December 2011 to January 2012. In 2010, Liu Xiaodong travelled back to his birthplace—Jincheng, a northern industrial town he has left for thirty years, to capture its landscape and people in paintings, prints and ceramics. The book comprises more than 200 diary entries dated from June to October 2010, narrating by the artist the life and his practice in Jincheng.

This book is part of a three-book and DVD box set. Other items including a catalogue titled LIU Xiaodong: Jincheng Story and a documentary DVD Hometown Boy are also available in the Archive. The DVD originally found in the box set is catalogued separately (location code: CD.001670).
