Catalogue of solo exhibition by Wang Du at Kestner Gesellschaft, Hannover in 2007. With artist biography.
Veit Gorner wrote, 'Media and their images play a central role in Wang Du's work. by re-translating press photos into three-dimensional sculptures, the artist provides us with drastic demonstrations of the selective fragmentation accomplished by media images. Pictures of the real world are put into the "right" shape - suggestively, sometimes manipulatively - in order to lend credibility to reports and opinions. After all, only that which we see with our own eyes, or which a photographer or cameraman sees for us, can be true. "Embedded journalism" allows us to feel that we are witnessing events live.'
