Ugnayan '05: The 4th Philippine International Performance Art Festival
Ugnayan '05, the 4th PIPAF was conceived as an event for artists to reconstruct through their performative actions the 'invisible in the visible'. As a venue-for-exchange between and among national and international performance artists, Ugnayan '05 bolsters the urgent desire to reintegrate art and life, and aims to redefine contemporary and conceptual art-making processes. The present catalogue includes artist statements and biographies.

The selected publications on this page presents the varied ways artists, curators, and researchers experiment with performance. For some, performance is a way to defy the commodification of art, a physical intervention into dominant narratives, or an enactment that eludes state control. Performance may be protest that takes place in the theatre, on the streets, in a café, or in a private setting. For others, it is experimentation with form: a transformation, appropriation, or expansion of dance, theatre, and film.
