Catalogue of the 10th edition of the Lyon Biennale, held between September 2009 and January 2010, and curated by Hou Hanru. The Biennale and the catalogue start with the premise that within a global art scene there is an increasing tendency to reinvent the ordinary into something spectacular and unique that is in turn challenging the notion of the spectacle and the everyday. This catalogue documents the programme presented thoughout Lyon and the selected works of some 60 participating artists. With written contributions by Boris Groys, Thierry Raspail, Hou Hanru, Nikos Papastergiadis, Philippe Vergne and Abdelkader Damani, among others. Artist biographies are included.
