Japan-China Artist Friendship Association was founded in 1964 aiming to facilitate cultural exchange between Japan and Taiwan, Republic of China. The Association changed its name to the Artist Friendship Association of Asia in 1973, officially as a response to demand in Asia to participate in exhibitions they hold, while it is explicitly stated in the chronology in the back that it had to have become an exchange on a private level, due to the diplomatic break between Japan and R.O.C. in 1972. Although they have sections for East Asian artists, the nationality of each artist is not specified in this catalogue.
