The 20th Middelheim Biennale coincides with the 20th Anniversary of Europalia (a biannual event). For this 10th Europalia festival, the organizers invite Japan as guest country to the event held at the Open-air Museum for Sculpture Middelheim, Antwerp, June 18-Oct 29, 1989. Devoted to Japanese sculpture of the past 20 years, the Biennale also pays homage to the Middelheim park and museum as an ideal sculptural environment. Essays in Tri-lingual (Belgian, English and French) versions. An in-depth introduction by the late Freddy De Vree. Includes biographies.
