Catalogue published on the occasion of '300 Families', the flagship exhibition of the Hong Kong International Photo Festival 2013 at the Hong Kong Design Institute from September to November, 2013.
Twelve (groups of) artists are invited to interpret the notion of 'family' and even attribute new meanings to it. Through the images of 300 local families, the artists provide their photographic insights into what constitues a 'family' and the ideas about living in this globalised metropolitan city space.
The twelve photo portfolios are divided into three categories in association with different tempos of musical movements: 'Andante / Adagio', 'Staccato / Allegro' and 'Forte / Fortissimo', making investigation into families from the perspectives of backgrounds, ways of living and demographics.
With curatorial statement by Bobby Sham and Blues Wong, artist biographies and brief descriptions of each series written by the artists.
