In an attempt to shift the practice of art from the manufacture of objects to the production of 'discursive events', Ho Tzu Nyen wrote and directed four short films that resurrect 4 exemplary moments in the history of art in Singapore. These were broadcasted over 4 weeks on the public television channel Arts Central.

This set of DVDs entitled 4x4 Episodes of Singapore Art features the renowned Singapore artists Cheong Soo Pieng, the pioneer of Nanyang style; Cheo Chai Hiang, one of the earliest conceptual artists in Singapore; and Lim Tzay Chuen, who represented Singapore at the Venice Biennale.
