This publication accompanies the titled exhibition at NUS Museum, from 12 December to 15 February 2009. Essays by the curators, images of the exhibited works and fictions written by two of the artists featured. Artist biographies included.

'Focusing on the exploration of contractual aspiration and uncertainty means that 'And the difference is...' features a number of performative and relational works that draw particular attention to the language and semantics of interpersonal exchange. The exhibition features five artists and a poet from each participating country... All of these artists have chosen to respond to the social and legislative nature of bureaucracies - with their works drawing attention to the government's monitoring of interpersonal activities, and questioning ideas of permission and dissension.' - Alexie Glass
