This publication is part of a work by artist Akram Zaatari that makes men and women reenact poses from photographs of children. Two adults—a man and a woman—are photographed and videotaped while reenacting the same pose. Only the photographs are included in this publication.
The artist encountered many images of naked children, predominantly with the boys' genitals exposed during his research with the Arab Image Foundation, and his travels in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Syria. He started collecting them and produced this project for an installation as part of Ayloul Festival in Beirut in 1998. The first edition published in 1998 was printed in black and white.
