This guidebook was compiled from a survey on art from the Mekong region, conducted by the Japan Foundation in March 2009. It covers key information on 54 art spaces and institutions in the cities of Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Ventiane (Laos), Yangon (Myanmar), Bangkok and Chiang Mai (Thailand), and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). Also included are short articles addressing recent developments in the region.

This is the third in a series of guidebooks on alternative art spaces in Asia — previous editions were published in 2001 and 2004.
