This is the catalogue for the exhibition 'Art Meets Media: Adventures in Perception' held at the NTT InterCommunication Center, Tokyo from January to March 2005.

This exhibition takes the years since 1989 as a convenient entry point, for it was in the years when computers have come into wide personal use, cutting across almost all the various reaches of society. The exhibition try to look back on the short history of this as-yet indefinable field of media art, and try to distinguish certain tendencies and potentials.

The field is rather broad, including works that use video, computers, data networks electromagnetic waves adn more, the subject contents likewise spanning a truly diverse range of expression from interactive art to works with a strong sociocritical edge.

Artist biographies are included.

Other participating artists: Gregory BARSAMIAN, Blast Theory, Rafael LOZANO-HEMMER, Gebhard SENGMULLER, Jeffrey SHAW.
