Initially sponsored by the Council for Cultural Affairs, the twelfth Taipei Art Fair is now known as Art Taipei. With the theme 'Asia Live: New Artists, New Art', Art Taipei 2005 aims to encourage local young artists and create more opportunities through market oriented exchange while introducing the vigor and uniqueness of Taiwanese art to the world. In addition to the main exhibition, the art fair showcases 4 thematic exhibitions: 'Self-clarification and Identification: Taiwan Local Art Exhibition' curated by Shaih Lifa; 'Hyper Link: Contemporary Art Space and Artist Village Network in Taiwan' organised by Yao Jui-Chung and 'Post-Stone Age: Taiwan Contemporary Young Artist Special Exhibition' staged by Wang Jun-Jieh, together with a special exhibition by Ozawa Tsuyoshi who was awarded 'Artist of the Year'.

The catalogue includes biographical notes of some of the participants. Brief information on the participating galleries are also provided.
