Living in Bali for the past two years, Hearnchek CHIA has been enticed by its magic, the ease with which models can be obtained, and its affordability. While several artists currently interprete Bali in new, contemporary ways, CHIA has revisited academic figure painting, a technique developed par excellence when Western masters such as Bonnet and Hofker were actively capturing the Balinese in pastel and charcoal.
