Starting with the works of Zainul Abedin, a pioneer in the modern art movement in Bangladesh, to the works of the promising painters of the present times, this book demonstrates the development of painting in Bangladesh in the last fifty years. It also introduces readers to the wide range of styles practiced by the artists in Bangladesh - from folk and urban folk traditions, realism and abstract expressionism to cross art forms. More than 300 works of 68 painters are presented in this publication. The selection has been made by an advisory committee comprising of painters, art critics and private collectors.
