As mentioned in the greetings by the organizers, Nagoya City Art Museum organized ‘Seven Artists – Aspects of Contemporary Japanese Art,’ which toured in the United States and Mexico in 1991. ‘Between Earth and the Heavens – Aspects of Japanese Contemporary Art II’ was the second exhibition organized by the museum that traveled to the United States and Mexico. Essay by Kazuo YAMAWAKI gives us in-depth observation of Japanese contemporary art and creative activities of each artist. Biographies are available at the end of this material.
