'The 7th Yogyakarta Biennale 2003 "Countrybution" was held more or less as a representation medium to show to the public what the developments of art in Yogyakarta look like within a certain time-frame. The Biennale, therefore, was expected [to serve] as a milestone marking a peak in art practice achievement.

This theme was a framework agreed upon between the curator and the sources (the selection team); M Dwi Marianto, Suwarno Wisetrotomo, Samuel Indratma, Rain Rosidi. Countrybution was used to read the phenomena of creation of artists during Biennale Yogyakarta VII. It is not utopia, witchcraft or a “new” rhetoric of artists to get out of the “getting out of crisis” doldrum.

Countrybution is imagination and reimagination that can still be contributed by artists, who anchor in a multiple fashion their own roles, like it or not, on the carpet of the country and the people who are rotting (Source: http://www.suaramerdeka.com/harian/0311/03/bud1.htm)' - from the IVAA online Archive
