Ellen Pearlman discusses a variety of topics with Cai Guoqiang during the installation period of his 2008 Guggenheim retrospective. Cai's speaks about the Chinese context and influences in his work and his participation in the 2006 Long March Gallery Project "Yan'an Forum on Arts and Literature. He explains the politics of his art, mentions nature as a force in his work, discusses the importance of Russian artist Konstantin Maximov on Chinese art, and his inspiration from the methodology that is employed in Feng Shui. Pearlman asks him about the Guggenheim retrospective as well as the past contoversy surrounding his project, "No Destruction, No Construction: Bombing the Taiwan Museum of Art."
