Published on the occasion of 'No Soul for Sale—A Festival of Independents' at Tate Modern, London, 14–16 May 2010. Charley Independents collects contributions by more than 80 non-profit spaces, independent institutions, curatorial offices and artists' collectives from around the world. A catalyst of a multitude of energies, Charley Independents presents the work of new, informal organizations that are inventing unusual strategies for the distribution of art and new modes of participation. Asia-based organizations include: Alternative Space LOOP (Seoul), Arrow Factory (Beijing), Arthub Asia (Shanghai/Bangkok/Beijing), Asia Art Archive (Hong Kong), Cemeti Art House (Yogyakarta), Collective Parasol (Kyoto), Green Papaya Art Projects (Quezon City), Invisible Academy (Bangkok), Para/Site Art Space (Hong Kong), Post-Museum (Singapore), and Sàn Art (Ho Chi Minh City).

Charley is a contemporary art publication series edited by Maurizio Cattelan, Massimiliano Gioni, and Ali Subotnick and co-founded together with Bettina Funcke.
