This book accompanies Yang Chihung's retrospective exhibition of the same title, held at National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts from November 2010 to February 2011. According to Huang Tsailang, director of National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, it explores Yang's 40 years of creation since 1970 from the perspective of the development of Taiwanese modern art. The twists and turns of Yang's aesthetic style are interpreted by using a collection of historical documents which are contemporaneous with Yang's works. 'It [...] showcases not only the artist's creative biography, but also the important place his works occupy in Taiwanese art history.'

Most of the essays are written in Chinese only, except 'Director's Foreword' and 'Preface', in which both English and Chinese are provided.
