Qi Zhilong is among one of the important Political Pop artists in the post-1989 China art scene. His paintings, as presented in this exhibition catalogue for his first one-man show in Hong Kong, confront the essence of a contemporary culture characterized by the conception that ‘everything is fit for consumption’. Fashionable girls posed in front of a background scattered with small images of Chairman Mao are common subjects to be found in his works. This publication includes a biography of the artist.
