The present book offers a study of the evolution of ink painting in China in the 20th Century, and proposes approaches for further development in the field. It was published as a result of the symposium, Fission: Historial Features of Ink Art in the Twentieth Century, and exhibition, Metamorphosis: Approaches towards a Successful Future for Contemporary Ink Artists, held at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei in the Spring of 2003. Introduction of participating artists are included. With foreword by Ursula Toyka.
