This material was published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same title, which brought together modern and contemporary works in one of the traditional Japanese painting media, ‘Nihonga.’ Colour plates are available in three sections: 1. Transformation of Post-War Nihonga; 2. New Tradition; 3. Reconsideration of Nihonga. Selected biography of participating artists, a chronology of contemporary Nihonga, and list of works are available in the latter section of the catalogue. In the section called ‘questionnaire for the artists', each artist is asked to answer six questions: 1. Are you a Nihonga painter?; 2. Why did you chose the medium for your artistic expression?; 3.Who is your favourite artist?; 4. Who are the artists that affected your creative activities?; 5. In relation to your creative activities, what is you current interest?; 6. Where do you think Nihonga is heading?
