The book records the contemporary art scene of Pakistan in terms of three generations; The Elder Group composed of Chughtai and his contemporaries, The Young Elders which include artists painting in Realism and Folk Arts as well as the pioneering abstract artists such as Zubeida Agha and Shakir Ali, and The Younger Painters which include then emerging artists who were active in the 1950s.
