From the press release: The 2009 Changdong Open Studio exhibition “cue!” has made the artist’s work space accessible to local residents, art students, art professionals and basically anyone who in interested in art. They have also made it into a platform for the free exchange of information between artist and admirer and visitors will be able to get a far better grasp of the artist’s world of art at this open studio. Works of art have been displayed everywhere within and around the 14 different studios: in the galleries, hallways, staircases and even the exterior of the buildings. Many public programs such as the Public Art Project and “Conversations with the Artist” have also been prepared to give visitors with more insight and experience into art.
The Changdong National Art Studio is a program that provides long-term or short-term residency to foreign and domestic artists from all over the world to up to one year. This year beginning from November 2008, artists from countries such as China, Austraila, Spain, Germany, Norway and the United States began their residencies with grants from either the Asian Pacific Fellowship Program, the International Residency Exchange Program or the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Arists Programme. Participating artists included: Jungjoo Kim, Jimin Kim, Yangachi, Youngil Wee, Jaye Rhee, Jeoungmee Yoon, Kijong Zin, Youngseok Cha, Kyungah Ham, Jeremy Neideck, Myoungho Lee, Junho Kwon, Youngkyun Kim, Sungeun Chang, Euyoung Hong, Vicky Sungeun Kim, Jipeng Ke, Mike Andrews, Hyunjung Lee, Miquel Garcia, Arttu Merimaa, Sookoon Ang, Farheen Maqsood, Jakraphun Thanateeranon, Royce Ng, Timmy Graham, Kai Richter, Kushana Bush, Yaiza Nicolas, Anna Daniell and Sverre Strandberg.
