'Departure' has been organized jointly by a young team of curators, which includes Wang Jing and Fang Lihua of the OCT Contemporary Art Terminal (OCAT), and Xie Anyu and Wang Dong of the He Xiangning Art Museum. The exhibition showcases 21 paintings, installations, photographs and video works by 20 artists from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao. Through the works of these representative artists from the Pearl River Delta region, the curators aim to present to the audience the current conditions of the four cities in the region, which have been developed in a separate but closely related way over the past three decades. Artist biographies are provided.
