This was published on the occasion of Rodel Tapaya's solo show presented by The Drawing Room, Makati City from April to May 2009.
"Diorama is an exhibition of ten box art pieces that serve as Tapaya's most recent iteration of a continuing project. Despite the altar appearance, Tapaya calls his works dioramas in reference to tableaux museum displays that portray historical events in three dimensions. Ditto the use of dolls, props and lights - which are all present elements in the works. However, the artist's take on the diorama differs radically here because in place of textbook history he foregrounds stories from folklore and mythology." - excerpt from essay by Riel Jaramillo Hilario
Biography included.
