'The exhibition eleven & eleven Korea-Japan Contemporary Art 2002 is held simultaneously with soccer's World Cup games, the largest sports event Asia has ever had, with the objective of further promoting art exchange between South Korea and Japan. It is also part of "The Year of Korea - Japan National Exchange in 2002" program...the Japanese media have made coverage more than ever of South Korea's music, cinema, TV drama and culinary culture. In our daily life too Korean culture is becoming increasingly tangible. Amid such developments, I proposed this exhibition with my strong wishes that cultural partnership between South Korea and Japan will continue forever and with depth, not ending as a transient festivity.' - Yuzo Ueda, Representative of the exhibition organizing committee. Included in this catalogue are artist's biographies.
