This is a collection of recent writings on media arts by one of its leading practitioners, Krisna Murti. The essays contextualize the development of media arts in Indonesia by examining key exponents and exhibitions of artists from Indonesia working in media arts as well as presenting key exhibitions of artists from outside the country that have provided an international context for thinking about and responding to media art practices. He delves into a range of issues from body image and gender in reading the work of performance artist Melati Suryodarmo, experimentation in new media art and its relationship to current cultural change, and issues of youth subculture and gadget culture in society today. With introductions by Gunalan Nadarajan, Edwin Jurriens and Rifky Effendy. Includes biographies of contributors.
