FRESH CREAM continues a new biennial contemporary art event. This exhibition-in-a-book introduces 100 new artists - selected by a team of ten international curators (Iwona Blazwick, Amada Cruz, Bice Curiger, Vasif Kortun, Maria Lind, Viktor Misiano, Gerardo Mosquera, Olu Oguibe, Apinan Poshyananda, Octavio Zaya), choosing ten artists each - who have emerged internationally since the mid-1990s, or have yet to emerge at all. A look at many examples of the artist's work is set alongside a short text by the selecting curator to set a broad, world overview of some of the most significant new artists working today. As in CREAM (the first exhibition-in-a-book in the series),the curators - all involved in staging manifestations of new art, known for their knowledge and integrity - are asked to discuss their ideas, their reservations and their criteria openly in an internet discussion reprinted in the book. Each curator also selects a text of any genre at all, written since 1990, which for them brackets the cultural climate in which the artist works. This simple 10 x 10 formula is brought up to date biennially with new talent.
